Inciting the passions

The new law in Tennessee, what has happened to that state?, that makes any suggestion of conjugal activity a criminal offense reminds me of the old Benedictine silliness that required monks especially young monks to have a wooden paddle, ( I am completely serious here) to use to put your underwear on or to tuck in your t shirt so that you would not “incite the passions”! I am sure the paddle was one of the monk’s most treasured articles of monastic life!!! You also could not look either directly at women or men for the same sick reason nor could you smell flowers or pet dogs and or cats! I always wondered why there was so many flowers at Belmont Abbey and a large population of stray dogs and cats!!!!!
