Today’s July 18th Reading
Today’s, July 18th, Gospel Reading according to the Roman Lectionary:
I have always suspected that Jesus is referring here to “theologians” and “scholars” as the ones that God for whatever his reasons has hidden the Truth from and perhaps becuase like many of these “learned ones” today they cannot see beyond their inflated egos or intellects and thus all the predictions of the “end of the Church” and or of “Christianity” itself. They write learned articles and author books on how to change the Church and its message but as the old Russian proverb reminds us ” a complete library need only two books to be complete, The Psalms and the Gospels”!
Gospel Mt 11:25-27
At that time Jesus exclaimed:
“I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
Amongst the various saints in the several Traditions is that of St Angeline of Marciano, St Hyacinthe the Martyr, St John and Simon of Alexandria, and the Grand Duchess Elizabeth and St Barbara the Nun of Russia who were killed by the Bolsheviks. May these and all the Saints in Glory known and unknown pray with us and for us through Christ Jesus Our Lord Amen+
