Today’s Reading, July the 24th

Today’s July 24th Gospel Reading according to the Roman Lectionary:

We are brothers and sisters of Jesus when we do the will of God which is to be loving and forgiving.

Gospel Mt 12:46-50
While Jesus was speaking to the crowds,
his mother and his brothers appeared outside,
wishing to speak with him.
Someone told him, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside,
asking to speak with you.”
But he said in reply to the one who told him,
“Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said,
“Here are my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father
is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

Today in the Russian/OCA Kalendar is the Feast of St Christina of Tyre, in the Latin Kalendar the Feast of St Sharbel Makhluf and in the Coptic Kalendar the Commemoration of the Martyrdom of St Euphemia, May these our holy companions along the Way pray for and with us through Jesus Christ Our Lord Amen+
