“The funeral selfie” is a natural byproduct of the deification of the ego. In a culture that celebrates everlasting gross and considers lack of civility a badge of success, in a country where gun and other forms of violence is considered “entertainment”, in a nation that considers military response as always the ultimate response to differences, in a political system where one party cheers at the death of a person who has lost his or her insurance, there is little left to mock or denigrate except death. When there are no absolutes we become the slaves of our mastery.
